Abstract :
A novel flyback type PWM var static var compensator (FBPSVC) is proposed in this paper. By adopting a compensating transformer, the voltage stress on switching parts, the power loss and current stress in snubbers are efficiently reduced. Compared with the previously presented compensator, it can work at higher frequency with lower power dissipation and less harmonics. Moreover, it can be implemented easily and reliably. Operating principles and analyses of FBPSVC are presented. Simulation results and experiments on a prototype are shown to verify the operational principles.
