Abstract :
A "system design oriented methodology" is proposed in this paper through optimization of heterogeneous devices in electrical engineering. To avoid criteria function derivatives, direct optimization algorithms are used for the design, in particular the Hook & Jeeves heuristic method which has proved its robustness on discontinuous and constrained problems. A typical electrical engineering heterogeneous system is considered as case study: the motor drive of an electric vehicle. Some results emphasize the ability of this approach to facilitate system analysis and particularly to display couplings between optimization parameters - constraints - criteria - driving mission.
