Abstract :
This paper proposes a complete model and method of evaluating the mega-events´ economic impact on the bidding cities and relevant zones, the Shanghai Expo taken as an example. Based on the three fundamental parts of GDP, we foresee the growth of the economies through the application of the historic data by numerical approximation. Comparing with the real degree at which the Expo brings the paper presents three main indexes which measure the economic impact by the means of difference equation. Then analytic hierarchy process is applied to assess the overall economic impact of the Shanghai Expo on its related zones. A comparison matrix is provided, and the weight value of the comparative importance of the three factors is calculated, which consists of the whole GDP. A concise result of synthetic impact index of Shanghai Expo is taken by the above method. Finally, some methods of evaluating the mega-events´ economic impact are discussed for future work in the paper.
