Abstract
Since about thirty years different authors are trying to carry out photovoltaic conversion utilizing organic materials. Till today the experimental results indicate very poor conversion efficiency. In order to improve this value, after the exciton creation, the electrical charges must undergo a rapid dissociation before they recombine. This condition necessitates a high value of the charge carrier mobility. We decided to prepare and to characterize organic photovoltaic cells utilizing discotic molecules which are synthetized for this purpose at the Paul Pascal Research Center. The particularities of these materials are to exhibit a mesophase which permit realization of highly oriented films. First experimental results are presented in this communication.
