  • Abstract
Various biological databases are available for holding the increasing amount of genome sequences. Researchers and biologists interested in the sequence information for a particular organism can retrieve their data from these multiple sources. However, selecting the right sources, in consideration of speed and availability, for a particular task is often a very hard decision. Moreover, there are different platforms and organization of data in the biological realm, making it a hindrance for interchanging information from one platform to another. So, integration of these distributed sources, with the major industry standard, is an urgent necessity faced by the biological community. Proposed here is a system that retrieves sequence data from multiple sources depending on their speed at the time of issuing the query thereby avoiding fetching data from the sites that are facing technical difficulty or delay. Moreover, the proposed system utilises the power of XML based technology, like XQuery, XSL for compliance with the industry standard and system extensibility.
