Abstract
We propose an interactive system for supporting Origami with a fixed camera as a novel instruction tool. Our support method aims to teach the folding operation for beginners in an understandable way. We introduce an instruction model which represents a successive process of Origami work. The model consists of a sequence of steps in the process. Each step has a state of Origami and a folding operation that can be applied to the state. When the beginner finishes a folding operation, our system estimates his/her Origami state by comparing the shape of Origami in camera-image with that in the model. The next folding operation is decided based on his/her Origami state, and displayed on Origami in camera-image. For estimating the location, our system uses a silhouette which represents a shape of Origami state as a circumscribed rectangle. In order to detect the location of Origami, the silhouette is compared within the area of Origami in camera-image.
