Abstract :
A new method for DCPM by substituting critical path is presented in this paper. A substituting critical path is defined as the new critical path when the former critical path is interrupted in CPM. Based on the Total Float Theorem and the Characteristic Path Theorem, the Substituting Critical Path Theorem is proposed, showing that when a critical activity is interrupted, the new critical path is the characteristic path which the paralleling activity with the least total float lies on. On the basis of this principle, a new method for DCPM is introduced and a numerical example is presented to illustrate the method. The new approach in this paper can simplify the existed procedure for DCPM.
