Abstract :
A method for floats computing and activity criticality analysis in precedence networks with multiple time-constraints is proposed in this paper. Different from the traditional CPM networks, the existence of time constraints makes some of activities on the critical path have floats. A procedure for computing temporal parameters in precedence networks with time-constraints is presented, including forward algorithm and backward algorithm. Then five types of floats are defined and analyzed. On the basis of these, activity criticality is analyzed. An example is presented to illustrate the procedure for floats computing and criticality analysis. The method proposed in this paper presents project managers a useful tool to identify activity criticality in precedence networks with time-constraints.
