Abstract :
A new method is developed for the determination of loss tangent and dielectric permittivity of ultra low absorbing materials at 60 GHz. The micrometer and the stepping motor driven flat mirror in the Fabry-Perot cavity can now be scanned at a very small steps (to change the cavity length or mirror spacing) to provide a complete interferogram over the entire Gaussian profile. The length of the cavity can now be varied at a step size as small as 20 nanometers. It is no longer necessary to use explicit formulae in the determination of the loss tangent and permittivity parameters in this way.
