Abstract :
A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is attracting attention as a useful means of communication in times when the communications network infrastructure has been disrupted by a widespread disaster. It would be convenient if a SIP application that the user is already familiar with and that is installed in his/her mobile terminal could be transformed into a node in a MANET automatically. So far, SIP services provided on a MANET have not been evaluated adequately. This paper presents the architecture of a MANET emulator suitable for verifying SIP services on a MANET, in particular, SIP-based audio/video communication. This paper studies SIP protocol transparency control and capabilities dedicated to processing messages and packets defined in SIP or AODV. A SIP_MANET emulator has been developed based on the proposed architecture, and the correct operation of audio/video communication has been confirmed. The effectiveness of the simulator has also been confirmed through communication quality evaluation.
