  • Abstract
This paper proposes a novel iterative algorithm to compensate for mutual coupling in uniform and linear arrays. It is designed with the aim of simultaneously compensating for mutual coupling and estimating the DOAs of impinging signals on the array. An iterative alternating minimization technique based on closed form solutions is performed to estimate the calibration matrix in the field of complex symmetric Toeplitz matrices. Unlike other calibration methods it does not require neither calibration sources, nor a rough estimate of the calibration matrix for initialization. Computer simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed technique and prove that the nice statistical properties of classical super-resolution DOA estimation algorithms can be restored despite the presence of mutual coupling
