            Abstract :
Serially concatenated continuous phase modulation (SC-CPM) is known to be a preferred choice of modulation technique for achieving high efficiencies in bandwidth and power. Commonly used SCCPM schemes use bitwise interleaving for concatenations. In this paper, we consider symbol-wise interleaving based on a decoding error analysis. We show that, by using an appropriate decoding algorithm, this symbol-wise scheme of SCCPM leads to considerable improvements in bit error rate (BER) performance over the scheme using bitwise interleaving
