Abstract :
Multimedia isochronous data require processing at regular intervals in order to achieve acceptable playback quality. This paper addresses the problem of network subsystem support for distributed multimedia applications in operating systems. The research demonstrates a design for a high performance network subsystem that provides quality of service guarantees to real time data in the presence of non-real time data streams. The design integrates protocol processing, processor scheduling, and parallel implementations in order to support the delivery of real time video and audio
