Abstract :
With the recent advent of powerful mobile and smart technologies, the need for the development of navigation systems helping pedestrians is emerging. Unlike car users, pedestrians form a more heterogeneous group having different levels of physical abilities, personal preferences and needs. In this work a computational framework of multiple route generation technique for a pedestrian navigation system incorporating user´s preference based on computational intelligence approach is presented. Fuzzy set theoretic technique has been used for processing of user´s subjective requirements represented by linguistic expression within limited vocabulary. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), an evolutionary algorithm, has been used for generation of multiple routes with different characteristics. A small-scale simulation experiment has been done and the results are compared with the computational framework proposed earlier with Fuzzy Genetic approach. The experimental results show that PSO is easier than genetic algorithm to use in generation of user´s preference based route generation for pedestrian navigation system.
