Abstract :
The design of video multiplexer that is based on the use of time multiplexing instead of frequency multiplexing, the removal of excessive diagonal resolution, and the digital transmission of synchronization and audio is described. It is shown that no temporal processing is performed and no motion artifact is introduced. Signal distortion and artifacts are minimized by using an improved algorithm and increased precision in signal input quantization and digital signal processing arithmetic, as well as by using longer and sharper digital filters. The algorithm removes less information, introduces less distortion, and results in simpler hardware design. Test results obtained from a hardware prototype are presented
