Abstract
In September 2006 Dr Leo young passed away at the age of 80. Leo was a well-respected MTT member with a long and distinguished record of service to the IEEE and the microwave profession. During his professional career Leo served as both President of the MTT Society ADCOM and as President of the IEEE. He was a pioneer in microwave structures and microwave systems. Leo served as Director of Research for the U.S. Department of Defense during the mid-1980´s and was instrumental in establishing research policy that guides U.S. Government funded basic research.
