Abstract :
This research paper introduces and analyses the issues faced by females while pursuing and progressing careers in the fields of engineering, followed by why they themselves or the society around them is reluctant to let them play an active role in this field. General mind set of the people of South Asian countries is discussed and the hindrances that a female engineer, belonging to a male-dominated society, may experience from a pre-university stage till the transition to a professional career are pointed out. A survey and its results are mentioned to elaborate on the real life issues faced by female engineers in the South Asian countries including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
