Abstract :
We have developed a T-junction synthesis procedure for Substrate Integrated Waveguides (SIWs). The developed can be used to provide any power split ratios and account for the emulated waveguide sidewall effects upon using metalized vias rather than solid sidewalls. The developed method is in parallel with a previously developed synthesis procedure for conventional waveguides. The new procedure has required a thoroughly investigation of SIW loss mechanisms and the development of design rules to minimize its overall insertion loss. Equal and unequal power splitter prototypes have been designed, fabricated and tested. Theoretical and experimental results will be presented and compared to those of the conventional waveguide T-junction designs.
