Abstract :
We propose a system framework to supply multimedia applications with sophisticated timing-control services. We combined the conventional earliest deadline first (EDF) algorithm and the concepts of proportional share algorithms to better serve the needs of multimedia applications. In addition, we consider not only how processor resources are multiplexed, but also how to do more accurate admission controls by taking I/O capacities into consideration. Empirical evaluations show that this framework not only practically provides better QoS support than conventional systems, but also performs better than previous work aimed at similar problems
