Abstract
This paper proposes a fault-tolerant technique for power converters in machine drive systems. With that purpose a four-leg inverter is employed so that the control flexibility is increased at a post-fault condition. The fault mode investigated is a misfiring of one, two, or three power top (bottom) switches. The fault tolerance is achieved by using a compensation strategy that permits control of the machine currents at both normal and post-fault operation. Simulated and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the strategy proposed
