Abstract
Premium halogen lamps, designed for display lighting, have low voltage filaments. Often, a line frequency transformer steps the voltage down to 12 VAC. This transformer is too large for integral products. This paper introduces a new, low cost, self-oscillating, electronic transformer with efficiency greater than 93%, total harmonic distortion less than 1%, near unity power factor and continuous lamp current. With only 22 components, it can be integrated with an MR16 lamp into a small housing
