  • Abstract
In the mobile radio communication, a large number of bit errors occur because of burst errors. When image data are transmitted under the condition, reconstructed image quality is significantly degraded. A conventional approach to prevent bit errors is to transmit image data using error correcting code and/or automatic repeat request. But, these methods require a high volume of signal processing or a complicated control protocol. In this paper, as an alternative to the conventional methods, we propose a low-complexity image transmission system. We first investigate how transmission errors in the mobile radio communication degrade image quality. Then, in order to improve image quality, we propose an error resilient image transmission system using DCT-based fixed length coding and cyclic redundancy check, and confirm its performance by the computer simulation
