Abstract
In the converging worlds of telecommunications, broadcasting and the Internet, multimedia content management is a key factor in promoting efficient and effective delivery of end user services. We introduce some of the fundamental concepts of content management and describe the role that content metadata can play within the management system. Automation of routine content handling techniques is extremely important in order to maintain and update large scale interactive applications. We examine the requirements for two system components that will provide automatic personalisation and validation services. Prototype designs and implementations are presented as candidates for inclusion in a content management system
