            Abstract :
Traditionally, the RS232 serial interface standard is used for point-to-point interconnection, and supported by almost every intelligent device for industrial automation. For modern applications, distributed systems are becoming popular. This paper describes a novel low cost add-on circuit that can be externally attached to standard RS232 ports to implement a fieldbus like peer-to-peer network with programmable baud rates up to 115 K baud. JUINET-a multi-master network with CSMA/CD has been implemented to reuse existing devices in a variety of distributed applications in simulation and process automation
