Abstract :
Principles of forced commutated current converter (FCCC) power circuit design and control law synthesis are investigated. The main advantages of FCCC as against existing types of power converters are: continuous output voltage with lower high frequency component content; potential isolation of inputs and outputs (for power circuit constructed using nonconducting p-n transition); and bilateral energy stream. The proposed FCCC is characterized by solid state devices switching near zero voltage and linear power supply loading for both consumption and regeneration modes. The bang-bang approach is used to develop an FCCC control scheme for DC-DC, DC-AC and AC-AC power convertors
