Abstract :
A new approach to averaged modeling of PWM DC/DC converters with current-mode control is presented in this paper. The method is based on closed-form ripple functions obtained by applying the KBM (Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolsky) algorithm. It overcomes the limitations of conventional methods based on geometrical calculations of the inductor current waveform. Application of the method is demonstrated by using a boost converter, and the derived model is compared with conventional ones and validated by detailed switching model simulation. The KBM algorithm has been implemented in a public-domain symbolic analysis program package so that the application of the new method can be fully automated
