Abstract
The author outlines a cognitive approach to the design of a feedback controller for complex systems. The design of the cognitive controller follows the following steps: (i) approximate mathematical modeling of the plant using fuzzy logic; (ii) an approximate design of the control structure and control parameters using fuzzy logic; (iii) defuzzification of the control structure and its implementation using nonlinear functions; and (iv) implementation of such a controller with fine tuning of the parameters. Thus, in the design states of such a cognitive controller, use is made of the cognitive knowledge of the human operator/engineer. However, the final implementation of the controller uses a nonlinear function approach
