Abstract
The bit error rate (BER) of 16 differential amplitude phase shift keying (16DAPSK) on both the time- and frequency-selective fading channel is derived analytically. Also, the probability density functions (PDFs) for the amplitude ratio and phase difference of the decision variables are derived. In addition, attempts to optimize the decision boundaries for 16DAPSK receiver are made when the number of unresolvable multipath components is one. The optimum decision boundary is obtained in a closed form when the signal to noise ratio (SNR) is high and the normalized maximum Doppler spread is small
