Abstract :
This paper investigates the efficiency of an electric vehicle inverter using zero-voltage-transition (ZVT) topology. The ZVT topology design and operation is explained. Steady state operating points are used to show efficiency improvements. Next, the dynamic performance of the ZVT circuit is measured using drive cycle profiles for city and highway driving. Energy use evaluates the effectiveness of the ZVT inverter compared to the hard-switched inverter
