Abstract :
In this paper, a complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) Metamaterial (MTM) is proposed to suppress surface waves (SW) between elements of a microstrip antenna arrays. The proposed Metamaterial is easily etched on the ground plane of the array antenna with a metallic plane on the back side between the elements of the array antenna. Significant reduction of the EM mutual coupling is achieved by simulating and measuring the insertion loss (IL) effect between array elements. More than 30 dB isolation between array elements is achieved. Experimental results are presented to show the performance of these structures.
