  • Abstract
This paper firstly introduces the implementation of interrupt and NAPI scheme in Linux networking subsystem. Then, the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme are described in detail through experiments. A method of adaptive selection of hybrid interrupt-NAPI scheme is proposed based on the experiments. This method firstly assures high throughout put and then adaptively switches schemes between interrupt and NAPI according to the situation of the network traffic to make the system have lower latency and CPU usage. The experimental result has validated that this method could effectively reduce latency and CPU utilities on the system.
