Abstract
How to reconstruct 3D object shapes from multi-view point cloud is one of the most important tasks to the scientists and engineers in the fields of virtual environment, etc. Aiming to resolve this question, a mesh mergence algorithm based on zippering method is presented. In this algorithm, first, meshes are part-merged easily using zippering; second, the triangles in pontes expand and degenerate to stitch the gap between split triangles families, thus holes inside mesh are padded; at last, the mesh is optimized to delete the redundant triangles. Through these steps, one result mesh which can express the whole topology of the multi-view point cloud is obtained.
