Abstract
We report on HRL Laboratories´ progress in developing state-of-the-art, extremely miniature, combline filters. These filters are expected to be essential components for future multifunction RF systems. The salient filter features are: small size, low insertion loss, tunability, high EM isolation, high power handling capability, and high out of band rejection. Another novel aspect of these filters is that they utilize standard semiconductor substrates to achieve miniaturization, and their design and fabrication is compatible with wafer level processing. This ensures high reproducibility in device performance, and allows large scale production at a significant cost reduction.
