Abstract :
The multiport amplifier (MPA) is an advanced technique with which to enlarge total channel capacity and encourage the implementation of multi-beam mobile satellite communication systems. Its hardware structure and physical characteristics have already investigated, but, channel management has not been sufficiently studied. This paper proposes a channel management scheme that can provide dynamic channel assignment with MPA. Because this scheme has extensive commonality with terrestrial based mobile communication systems, it is easy to implement, in particular satellite and terrestrial cellular integrated systems. An advanced handover procedure using this channel management scheme is also presented
