  • Abstract
It is shown that time-varying controllers give no improvement over time-invariant controllers in the weighted l1-sensitivity minimization problem for SISO FDLTI (single input, single output, finite-dimensional linear time-invariant) plants with one unstable real pole or one real nonminimum-phase zero. Thus, for these plants, l1 and H share the property of having the controller optimal over the class of all linear controllers be FDLTI. The proof for plants with one complex unstable pole or one complex nonminimum-phase zero is similar, but with a few extra technicalities
