Abstract :
We consider digital frequency estimators for M-PSK transmission systems. We concentrate on schemes requiring only one sample per symbol. At high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the performance of the estimators is evaluated analytically, while at low SNR simulation is resorted to. The useful frequency range and SNR range are determined. A simplification of the estimators based on averaging groups of complex samples is analyzed. Finally, to cope with frequency errors greater than allowed by the basic schemes, iterative frequency estimation is considered
