Abstract :
Multi-band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MB-OFDM) is an efficient approach for ultrawide band (UWB) wireless communication applications. However, the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) limits its capacity due to distortion caused by nonlinear component such as high power amplifier. Clipping is a simple and an effective technique for reduction of PAPR. However, clipping is a nonlinear process which causes out of band noise. In this paper, Filtering and Turbo coding techniques are proposed to mitigate the effect of clipping on the performance of MB-OFDM UWB signals. The performance of the filtering and turbo coding are analyzed through computer simulations. In the analysis, Power Spectral Density (PSD) and Bit-Error Rate (BER) are used as performance measures.
