Abstract :
Calabazas Creek Research, Inc. is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop improved cathodes for gyrotron electron guns, though the research applies to all cathodes for electron beam devices. The research is focused on improving emission uniformity and providing techniques for controlling cathode porosity. It is anticipated that the research will allow improved performance for current devices and allow development of high current density and long lifetime cathodes for new RF sources. Results to date and plans for the research are presented.
