Abstract :
In this paper, the traditional research methods of the intersection signal timing and optimization are discussed and analyzed. An improved signal timing model, which considers delay time, stop frequency and traffic capacity as the performance index of signal timing optimization model, is presented. The performance index weighting coefficient will be adjusted to adapt different traffic conditions. A new algorithm, based on immunogenetics, is proposed to optimize traffic signal timing. The simulation results show that the new signal timing method reduces the average delay time and the average stop frequency and increases the traffic capacity of the intersection.
