Abstract :
A Chireix outphasing transmitter demonstrator targeting WCDMA base stations was implemented. The system consists of two upconversion branches, a low-loss combiner optimized for saturated LDMOS PAs and digital signal generation and calibration. Path imbalances, quadrature errors and DC offsets were removed using background calibration. The measurements showed close to 30-% output efficiency at more than 20 W output power for one carrier. The best achieved adjacent channel power ratio was -45 dB.
