  • Abstract
The authors present an overview of efforts to build knowledge-based systems for real-time control. They describe what knowledge-based systems have to offer to the control systems engineering process. This is followed by examples of the application of knowledge-based techniques to system identification and adaptive control. Projects which use qualitative reasoning and rule-based controllers are then outlined. Finally, research issues are discussed
