Abstract :
We present a new technique for radio and video broadcasting over the Internet, referred to as IP Simulcast. IP Simulcast reduces the transmitter´s bandwidth by distributing the network load to each client-receiver. The IP Simulcast approach is based on the hierarchical binary structure of receivers, which at the same time become data senders or repeaters. IP Simulcast is a superior technique compared with IP Unicast and IP Multicast providing lower cost, higher quality and better flexibility. We also present a mathematical analysis of the IP Simulcast algorithm to determine the size of the buffers in the receivers
