Abstract :
In this paper, a novel robust adaptive beamformer with new constraints on array magnitude response and new optimization method is proposed. The constraints on magnitude response and array output power are derived as linear functions of the autocorrelation sequence of array weight. The adaptive beamformer, which is formulated as quadratic optimization problem in conventional beamforming methods, is reformulated as linear programming problem. Unlike the conventional robust beamformers, the proposed method can control the beamwidth and response ripple of the robust response region flexibly. With this method, a large robust response region is possible and the resulting beamformer still have high performance on signal- to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) improvement. Numerical results show the superior performance of the proposed method.
