Abstract :
In view of the current situation that some cities choose to operate bus and BRT on urban expressway while lacking theoretical guidance, this paper studies the setting position of bus station on expressway. First, the operating and functional characteristics of bus station on expressway are analyzed. As a result, the paper puts forward two basic requirements for bus station position setting on expressway: to ensure smooth-running of expressway, and convenient transfer with buses on relief road. The study on the position setting of bus station to ensure smooth running of expressway is converted into study on the minimum distance between bus station and entrance/exit. The mechanism of mutual effects between the two is resolved. And based on kinematics theory, traffic flow theory and probability theory the calculation models of minimum distance are established, using Monte Carlo methods for solving models. In the study of position setting of bus stations to ensure convenient passenger transfer, the paper points out that bus station on expressway should be set near bus station on relief road, and relating facilities should be built to make passenger transfer convenient and safe. Six typical design patterns of transfer are concluded. This paper can guide urban expressway traffic design directly and is also helpful to expressway BRT design.
