Abstract
Presents a hybrid machine translation system which combines the strengths of logic programming, procedural programming, and neural networks. The system is designed for Japanese to English translation of natural language sentences found in daily newspaper weather reports. The system is trained on one full year of weather reports, or over 1000 sentences. A second full year of weather reports is used to empirically evaluate the system.
