Abstract :
Nature organic matter (NOM) in natural surface water sources not only affects the odor, color and taste of water, but also acts as a precursor of disinfection by-products (DBPs). To controll the formation of DBPs , several treatment processes or their combinations have been studied for removing NOM from water. In this study, the removal efficiency of NOM in source water using a pilot scale integrated vertical-flow constructed wetland was presented. The results show that the constructed wetland system can remove NOM effectively. When the concentration of CODMn, UVA254, UVA410, TOC and SUVA in influent are 3.67~5.44mg/L, 0.106~0.213 cm-1, 0.028~0.084 cm-1, 3.50~5.12 mg/L and 2.31~5.24 L/mg·m, the average removal rates are 49.9%, 63.4%, 80.8%, 45.1% and 36.6%, respectively. The main organic matter in effluent is unhumic substrate. The pretreatment by constructed wetland is helpful to control the production of DBPs and may be helpful to reduce the Ames mutagenicity.
