Abstract :
In this paper, we investigate the effects of various time-limited chip waveforms on the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of a coherent direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) communication system in the presence of multitone jamming (MTJ) and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) over a Generalized-k fading channel. Analytical expression for the exact BER performance is derived by using the characteristic function (CF) approach. We compare the BER performance of four different types of time-limited pulses, namely, rectangular pulse, raised cosine (RC) pulse, Blackman pulse, and Lanczos pulse. From our analysis, we observe that RC pulse, Blackman pulse, and Lanczos pulse have better MTJ resistant properties than the conventional rectangular pulse under various channel fading and shadowing conditions.
