Abstract :
This paper presents possible future usage of MPEG-4 technology, illustrating a broadcast architecture. The forecoming MPEG standard provides tools to build multimedia applications, in particular a 2D-3D binary scene description format (BIFS) and new compression Video and Audio tools. A system for multicast over satellite of MPEG-4 content is presented. This architecture is based on MPEG-4 Systems standard specification and was successfully demonstrated at the 45th MPEG meeting on October 1998, where a satellite demonstration was held
