Abstract :
A description is given of a research domain developed to study the role of human supervisory control in discrete manufacturing. A discussion is presented of the problems found when attempting to map J. Rasmussen´s hierarchy (1986) directly to the discrete manufacturing domain. A methodology is proposed for extending Rasmussen´s hierarchy to discrete manufacturing, and a plan to validate the hypothesis is suggested
