Abstract :
A new structure with slow wave properties similar to those of a circular helix is described. The structure consists of a ´planar helix´ printed on a dielectric substrate and enclosed in a rectangular waveguide. In this paper the polarization of wall currents for the dominant mode has been studied to investigate the potential of the structure as an antenna. The study reveals that circularly polarized wall currents are possible with design optimization.
